Our History
Established in 1887, Enumclaw School District has a rich history of providing quality education to the residents of Enumclaw, Black Diamond, and several unincorporated communities. Over the years, we've evolved and grown, adapting to the changing needs of our students and community while preserving the values that make our district special.
Our Mission
Inspiring students to learn, lead, and impact their community and the world.
Our Theory of Action
If we are relentless in our pursuit of creating schools that engage students in learning that is authentic, deep, irresistible, and exciting, then we will succeed in preparing all students for success in the innovation era and success in life.
ESD Five Commitments
The Enumclaw School District is dedicated to our ESD Five Commitments. These five commitments define a trajectory of success for our students, are research and evidence-based, and are built on a foundational belief that all students are capable of success. By actively monitoring these areas, we ensure our schools and staff are meeting the needs of all ESD students as they progress through our system.
Our Community
We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Enumclaw, Black Diamond, and several surrounding areas. Our district is more than just a collection of schools; it's a hub of community engagement where parents, students, and educators collaborate to ensure the success of our students. As of November 2023, our district has a current student population of 4,225, who are served in five elementary schools (Black Diamond, Byron Kibler, Southwood, Sunrise, and Westwood), two middle schools (Enumclaw and Thunder Mountain), Enumclaw High School and our Birth to Five Center. Located in southeastern King County, the Enumclaw School District is bordered on the north by the Tahoma School District, on the northwest by the Kent School District, on the west by the Auburn School District, and on the south by the Pierce County line, and the White River School District.
Our Programs
Our curriculum is designed to meet the unique needs and interests of our students. From rigorous academic programs and vocational opportunities to comprehensive arts, sports, and extracurricular activities, we offer a wide range of opportunities for students to explore their passions and discover their talents. This has long been a priority of staff members, administrators, and the Enumclaw School District Board of Directors. The maintenance of a quality support staff, people who are essential to effective school management, continues to ensure excellent services to Enumclaw district students.
Today's educational programs in the Enumclaw School District contribute to the development of responsible citizens ready to take on their roles as future leaders.
