Black Diamond Elementary School held their 5th-grade Dancing Classroom's Culminating Event. The students learned and performed the following seven (7) dances; Swing, Tango, Rumba, Merengue, Waltz, Polka, and Foxtrot. They were absolutely amazing! We are so proud of this hard-working group who grew tremendously through this whole process!

On Wednesday evening, the PTO at Black Diamond Elementary sponsored a community event, "Art Night" for our school families. It was a great evening where kids and parents alike could be creative and have fun using their imaginations with paint, watercolors, games and create some fun musical instruments with spoons and beans! Many students and parents brought some great projects home to share with their families! Thank you all for coming and making it a special evening!

Reminder: All ESD buildings will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving Break. Enjoy the long weekend!

Mrs. Davis' 1st grade class held a Fair Share event in her classroom today. Her students created a science project on bats, snakes, spiders, and praying mantis. The students provided detailed information on their choice of a reptile, mammal, or insect and had the opportunity to share their work with other classes.

Members of our Enumclaw High School Football Team and Cheer Squad came out to help our students at dismissal time! It was a special time for our students to get the opportunity to meet the players and cheerleaders as they were leaving for the day. Wishing them all the best in their playoff game tonight!

Today, we honor the brave armed forces members who have selflessly served our nation. Happy Veterans Day to all our heroes, past and present! 🎖️ We're grateful for the veterans within our own community and the invaluable lessons they bring to our ESD. Let's remember and thank these remarkable individuals today and every day.

Principal Bull kissed a goat! The students were treated to ice cream, extra recess time AND a goat visit! This was the result of the fantastic job the kids did in raising money for the school fundraiser with the help of our wonderful community! Way to go Black Diamond Elementary!

The district has received reports of issues with call quality (static) on our phone lines that are provided by Lumen, formerly known as CenturyLink.
Lumen will be doing work on our phone lines this afternoon at 3:30 pm.
This work will be "disruptive" and could lead to calls dropping or not going through for calls in and out of the district.
Internal phone calls from building to building, or within building will not be impacted.
Thanks in advance for your patience while we work with Lumen to resolve the issue.

Because of the success of our Charleston Wrap Fundraiser here at BDE, Principal Bull dressed up as the Marshmallow Man to surprise the students at lunch and recess! Mr. Tulluck, the Ghostbuster, detected paranormal activity out on the playground with his scanner and spotted the Marshmallow man! The students were quick to help capture the Marshmallow Man!

REMINDER: There is no school on Friday, October 13, 2023 for a Teacher Directed Day.

Public Service Announcement:
Beginning at 11:20 a.m. today, it is expected that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of its Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. The test will send emergency alert messages and/or sounds to radios, televisions. and consumer cell phones.
While this emergency test has nothing to do with the schools, due to the timing, it may disrupt the classroom environment. We are broadening the reach of FEMA's plan for nationwide testing so that our staff, students, and parents are aware that this test is happening.
All wireless phones should receive the message only once. The following can be expected from the nationwide WEA test:
Beginning at approximately 11:20 a.m., cell towers will broadcast the test for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, WEA-compatible wireless phones that are switched on, within range of an active cell tower, and whose wireless provider participates in WEA, should be capable of receiving the test message.
For consumers, the message that appears on their phones will read: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”
To help ensure that these alerts are accessible to the entire public, including people with disabilities, the alerts are accompanied by a unique tone and vibration.

Black Diamond Elementary School Picture Day is Wednesday, October 4th! Put on your best smile!

Our Black Diamond 1st grade team has displayed their beautiful artwork in the school hallway for all to see and enjoy! They answered the question of, "I can be a good citizen by ____________." One student stated by "following the golden rule". A couple of students stated by "being kind and another student stated by "listening to directions". We are so proud of our students learning to be good citizens in our community and for a lifetime!

Friday, September 8, 2023; 9:13am: Enumclaw High School is in Modified Lockdown
Enumclaw High School is currently in a modified lockdown due to rumors and reports of a potential threat from an individual not on our campus. During a modified lockdown, no one will be allowed in or out, so meetings at the school may need to be rescheduled. Modified Lockdowns are precautionary. Local law enforcement is responding. We will update families as soon as information is available. Maintaining the safety of students and staff is the priority at this time.
